FAQ
Q: Where are your products made?
A: Every Gilda & Pearl piece is made entirely in the United Kingdom in women-owner ateliers, and much of the making process is done by hand. You can find out more here. We use OEKO-TEX® silks and are proud to be B Corp™ certified, so you can be sure that Gilda & Pearl meets the highest standards of accountability, transparency, social and environmental performance.
Q: What is your design philosophy?
A: Gilda & Pearl is inspired by the beauty of craftsmanship and the bold Femme Fatales of Hollywood golden age film. Gilda & Pearl was founded by Diane Houston in 2011 - for living and lounging more glamorously in her favourite vintage-inspired designs, whilst also creating and sustaining artisanal jobs within the garment industry.
Q: What is your sourcing and manufacturing philosophy?
A: Gilda & Pearl's unique aesthetic and ‘lingerie to love’ began with just a few handmade pieces, and grew quickly to become a press and celebrity favourite. Today, every Gilda & Pearl piece is still made in the UK with over 85% natural materials, as it was in the beginning. Our UK manufacture allows us to know exactly who makes each Gilda & Pearl piece, and exactly how and where every garment is created. Much of the process is done by hand in women-owned, specialist ateliers with a maximum of three people working on each garment at any one time. You can find out more here.
Q: Where can I find your products?
A: Our products can be found at gildapearl.co.uk, and at select retailers worldwide, including Harrods London, Saks New York and Beverley Hills, and Bergdorf Goodman. If you want to learn more, email us at info@gildapearl.co.uk. We'd love to hear from you!
Q: How does Gilda & Pearl fit?
A: On a daily basis, we work with highly skilled makers across the country, with whom have built relationships with over many years. Much of our production process is done by hand. In the grand old tradition, every Gilda & Pearl piece is hand-cut in individual or small batches, and in many cases, our pieces are sewn in their entirety by one individual maker. We go above and beyond to ensure quality and a perfect fit in each of our pieces.
Q: What is my size?
A: Unless otherwise stated in the product description, Gilda & Pearl fits true to size and you should take your normal size. If you have a question about measurements or sizes, you can email us at info@gildapearl.co.uk. You can also reference our size guide here.
Q: My size is out of stock. Can you make it for me?
A: In many cases, yes! We make all of our pieces locally so we can often make your size to order for you within around seven days, sometimes sooner, if your size is not already in stock. Please email us at info@gildapearl.co.uk.
Q: Do you ship internationally?
A: Yes, we ship worldwide, and always in our exclusively designed gift packaging. You can find out more here. We aim to dispatch all orders as quickly as possible, but if you do need your Gilda & Pearl pieces right away, please let us know by emailing info@gildapearl.co.uk, and we can usually accommodate your request.
Q: What happens if I need to return something?
A: We want you to be delighted with your Gilda & Pearl purchase, but we understand that sometimes things don't work out - so we've made returns easy. Simply email us within 14 days to organise your return (excludes final sale styles, which are marked as such in the description). You can find out more about our returns policy here.
Q: How should I look after my new Gilda & Pearl pieces?
A: Gilda & Pearl pieces are made from the best fabrics and with great attention to detail, so they will last a long time with the right care. Handwash with care, in cool water, taking care to always use a specialist detergent that is made specifically for wool and silk. If you have purchased one of our feather pieces, these can also be washed with care - a short blast from your hairdryer will even bring the bounce back to your feathers if they fall a little flat! All of our fabrics are rigorously tested, however please note that, like all similar fabrics, there is a risk of colour transfer with our dyed fabrics - particularly when wet. We recommend you take care when wearing any coloured garments against light surfaces.
